My 308-8 w/ the Uni-drive trans pat. No.2988185 will not go forward

Im havin a hard time finding anyone w/ the same problem Rev. still works in both high and low but 1,2&3 will not work in high or low but still shifts into all the gears. I thought i fixed the problem because rev did not work either till i tightened the set screws on the rim to the axels and now rev works and so did 2nd at first(short lived 10 feet). All the pulleys are spinning with there shafts and the belt isnt sliping. I guess im asking if anyone has ever run into this problem or has any ideas before i tear down and rebuild the tranny?

I would enlist another individual and look at the hubs again.

I agree...this time pull the rims off and check the wood ruff keys...if you did not do that before.   If those are OK, then let's try a couple of things before you drop the trans.  It does not sound like an internal tranny problem.  Both tires need to have the keys, if one axle is spinning in the rim, the other one will not turn and the tractor will just sit there.  That is the way the differential in these horses work.

i tried sliding the hubs off they got stuck so i mowed the lawn like that now im goin to take it apart but i dont see any key ways on either side if the hub for the woodruff to be able to fit thru if and one has pics or diagraim on it plz show me them before i start.

Here is a link that has a couple of pictures of the axle with the wood ruff key in place.  You may have to tap your hubs back on the axle and file any burrs on the end of the axle.  There is a square head bolt with a lock nut on the back side of the hub that, when tight, locks the hub onto the axle.  Loosen these to remove hub.  Just click on this link to view this topic...
