July Storm Damage

Recommended Posts

Zeek

I got home Tuesday evening just after a significant thunder storm that trashed a bunch of trees in my back yard.  Fortunately they missed anything important.  Funyy thing is all the the yards around me looked normal.  Must have been some kind wind burst in the woods right behind me  :eusa-think:

With the help of my trusty 1276  :wh: , an F150, two trailers, a chainsaw and a 21 year old farm hand form next door, I was able to get her cleaned up in 12 hours.

I had the same issue. I spent all day yesterday picking up sticks, branches and leaves. Mowed the lawn and had everything beautiful again. Then at 3:00 yesterday afternoon, the skies darkened, the wind and rain came again, and all my work was for naught.

On the other hand, I am lucky. Just 15 miles from here, a 12 year old child was killed when a tree fell on him at a day camp. Nine other children were injured.

Yea, I heard about the 12 year old  :handgestures-thumbdown:

Another storm scooted by to the east of me as we were finishing . . . I was thinking "Oh no, not again . . "

Funny, I let the kid that was helping me drive it for a while and he LOVED it!

I had to take off the belt guard that was on it until I can modify it.  It covers too much of the hydro and blocks the fan . . . needed it to stay cool.  We were dragging and pulling with it all day and worked like a champ  :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Here's what's left of the 60" spruce that mashed my garden.

I chipped all the small stuff and burned everything else.  Not even good to toast marshmallows with all that turpentine burning.

ekennell, I am right with ya there. I am still cleaning up from a tornado that just brushed us two weeks ago. I had three big trees go down. One of them was a 70 ft White Pine. Nothing but a super sticky mess. It's like working with rubber cement. Gloves get so bad they just stick to the limbs as you throw them on the trailer.

The little tractor shed dodged another spruce bullet last night.  :hide:
