C-160 seat

Recommended Posts

It's such a beautiful weekend, I decided to break out the ole' C-160.  It the first time out for her this year, and I was super pleased when it started up like it was shutoff yesterday.  She got a nice wash, oil change, lube and a lot of exercise.  Brittany uses this the most, I don't generally ride it.  Well, I needed a C-160 fix, so I decided to jump on.  Maybe it's just me, but is the seat WAY low on this machine?  The sear springs are mounted directly on the fender pan, without spacers.  Should there be a spacer between the spring and the pan?  Compared to the 416, this is SUPER low.

Carl you should have a flip up assembly between the springs and seat pan that would raise it about 2 inches. You can see it here in this picture.

Jeff, it's a 1974, they didn't have flip up seats, the entire seat pan flips.

Karl,

i think the height is just a product of that year, the springs being mounted right on the seat pan like they are.

when you compare to your 416, you have the flip up mechanism, and maybe even a slide adjustment under there as well.

my 1057 has the springs added (and is basically the same as your oem setup with them added) and is quite low compared to any of my 90s tractors. its just how they are. imagine how the mid 60s tractors are when standard with the seat mounted right on the seat pan!!!!

That is how I like them for sure. Low and a nice low center of gravity!! :)

One time with another color tractor, I had taken off the seat and spring support assy. I needed to use it for maybe 15 minutes and laid a piece of a 2x8 across the rear fender. It was low and very jolting on the ol buttox!

Retro fit with the seat springs and enjoy the ride!
