Topo 13 #1 Posted June 29, 2014 Hello, new to the site but just wanted to share, I just purchased a 312-8 Toro wheelhorse Classic from a older gentleman , it has a mower deck - snow blower - full hard top cab - snow/dirt plow - tiller - new battery and most of the belts are new - two sets of tire chains and runs like a watch. He wanted $3000 ( I didnt know that) so when he told me that I told him I was sorry to have wasted his time as I was not going to pay anything near that much for it and started to walk away he stopped me and said what will you give me? I told him I didn't want to insult him but I would only think it was worth $1500 and I again told him I was sorry for wasting his time and turned for the truck when he said ok I will take it, I almost fell over. The blower is brand new and has never been used. I don't have pictures of it but you know how older people are with their stuff and he took very good care of it. I think I did ok.

Forest Road 594 #4 Posted June 29, 2014 Welcome to RS! 12 hp 8 speed was probably the most common machine sold. You'll be amazed with its capabilities. The single stage blowers work well. Keep it lubricated and she should last 20+ years before a rebuild. BTW if its as clean as you stated you stole it! Well done!
Racinbob 11,088 #5 Posted June 29, 2014 That's a great deal Topo! A steal with all those attachments. Welcome and please do post pictures.
jdleach 525 #6 Posted June 29, 2014 Yes, you did well. The attachments really add value to the deal. Even at $3K, if the tractor is low hours and as clean as you say, it would be a decent deal given the years of use you will get out of the machine as compared to a new tractor in the same price range. Too, after you have gotten the goodie out of that Horse, you can overhaul/rebuild and get another 20 years. You won't be able to do that with the new tractors. Wheel-N-It 2,969 #8 Posted June 30, 2014 Topo, if its a Toro Wheel Horse Classic it should have an hour meter. How many hours are on the tractor? IMO truthfully the TORO 312-8 with the Kohler Magnum M12 is the best tractor to begin with as a Wheel Horse owner. That is if you want a "Worker" Wheel Horse tractor. Attachments and repair parts are plentiful. The engine does not have an oil filter so be sure to keep an eye on your hour meter and change the engine oil every 25hours. Grease the mowing deck every time you use it. Clean the air filter after every use of mowing and tilling. Doing this will keep it running for decades.
