They make a universal fluid that is good for Dexron 3 and Mercon 4 (maybe) that is the closest you can find to the type A ( Dexron1) THAT YOU CAN FIND NOW. oldredrider 2,549 #3 Posted June 27, 2014 The Dexron III is still available in my area, but don't know for how long. It works great in my GT-14 so I stocked up. You have asked a good question, but getting an honest answer from a manufacturer might be tough. Dealing with 40+ year old equipment and the lubricants required is getting a bit complex.
