Wheelhorsestory 210 #26 Posted June 28, 2014 I want to compliment the present and past board members for a more than spectacular show. What a great weekend! So much work goes into putting on this show and one of the reasons it is great is because these ladies and gentlemen put in a lot of time. We must realize that there are people who sit in the registration building working for the entire show. I do remember at one of the very early shows we had a miniature pulling sled as well as slow tractor races.
varosd 1,185 #27 Posted June 29, 2014 You can invite the Red Cross and have a blood drive...see if we all really DO bleed Wheel Horse red. Of course with the sun and heat, might have some fainters. Hoping to make the show next year! and with all of that blueberry wine and shine in us.....

Those early shows with the slow tractor race and tractor pulls was a lot of fun. It would be great to bring those back. Sent from my tractor seat.
km3h 543 #29 Posted July 2, 2014 I was thinking it might be nice to set up some sort of obstacle course or over land course in that big empty field on the north/west side of the grounds. It would take away some of the congestion, and some of the noise of all the horses running around the circle all day. This is the first year that I saw a few of the younger people getting yelled at for going to fast and darting around. As this show keeps growing, this might be an option. It is great to be able to ride around at this show, not many shows let this happen...I would hate to see something happen that ruins it for all of us. Just a thought. I almost got run over several time by the same couple of youngsters while at the show. Being new to the whole thing I just moved on. Some of those tractors had big engines in them with the governors removed and foot throttles. That's OK if the driver has a bit of discipline and is careful but when they want to hear the rumble of the engine and show off a bit it is a bit scary. I was thinking of the vicarious liability on the show sponsors if someone got hurt.
