Agage1 83 #1 Posted June 16, 2014 Has anyone ever tried clear coating over a tractor with 30 years of patina on it. I was clear coating the hood of my 854 resto today and had some clear left in my gun. I didn't want to waste it so I lightly sanded the fenders of my 73 12 HP 8 sp and sprayed 3 coats. It really looks good. kinda rat rod like. I'm flirting with the idea of spraying the whole tractor. I'll try and post some pics as soon as our computer is fixed.

tunahead72 2,400 #4 Posted June 16, 2014 I like that too, Zeek. Did you have any problems getting the clear coat to stick after using whatever oils you used?
Zeek 2,286 #5 Posted June 17, 2014 I like that too, Zeek. Did you have any problems getting the clear coat to stick after using whatever oils you used? Actually the clear coat is only good after a sanding. I know some others swear by oil, dressing, you name it. The looks are all different to some extent, so it just kinda depends what you like personally

Jrblanke 857 #11 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) So you are using the salad dressing/motor oil as the wet sanding....wetness? What grit paper do you use to wet sand when using the motor oil or salad dressing? Edited June 26, 2014 by Jrblanke
Terry M-(Moderator) 2,175 #12 Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) Sorry, but since it was mentioned I have to ask.......if someone uses salad dressing... Do you find your being followed by flies?, or do you notice the neighbors' dog licking the tractor?? Not trying to be stupid, funny or silly, but just curious..
