zelinadc 0 #1 Posted May 23, 2014 Gentlemen, Restoring my 68 Ranger and the from hubs are pretty loose. While I have sorted out how to restore the rest of the moving part tolerances, the hubs are perhaps the most worn. first question.. are the bushings in the fron split hubs pressed in? Can they be pressed out and replaced with bearings or bronze bushings? Thanks! Dave
ol550 830 #2 Posted May 23, 2014 Most if not all have a solid thick bushing that can be tapped out. New bushings are avaliable or you can use ball bearings. Most hardware stores will have the ball bearings.
slammer302 2,155 #3 Posted May 23, 2014 The bushings can be drove out if you go with roller bearings you will need a spacer because the bearings are thinner than the bushings about 1/2 inch I went through this on my lawn ranger good luck
roscoemi 245 #4 Posted May 30, 2014 The bushings in P'Chops '67 Ranger wheels were spot welded in, so bored them out and used bronze bushings to tighten things up.
