Akestner 36 #1 Posted May 19, 2014 ok, so I'm totally new to forum's and I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place or not so any help would be appreciated. My father in law and I are going to the wheel horse show in PA. in june and I am curious as to how hard it would be to find a working tractor with a sickle bar for sale and about how much it would be. I'm looking to purchase my first Wheelhorse from what I have found so far I would like a 520H and something complete with a sickle bar but I'm not sure what would be the easiest to find any comments on what to expect would be appreciated Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

stevasaurus 22,683 #3 Posted May 19, 2014 First...Welcome to Red Square. I would say take a look at the past years of WHCC pictures in the pictures section on the main page. That will give you a good idea of what to expect. Yes, there are good running horses for sale at the show. Will there be a good 520H?? Finding a good sickle bar for whatever horse you decide on "could" be a good trick. Sickle bars, and don't quote me on this, will probably be in the $300 range. I do not know what a 520H might go for. You may want to get there on Thursday to check the place out for what is going to be available this year. If something is priced too high, the price may come down Saturday...if the seller does not want to take it home. One thing to do...place an ad in the want ads section on the main page for pick up at the show. It is possible you could have the deal worked out before you get there and just pick it up and enjoy the show. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

My father in law has a 416-8 that is in good running order with about 1300 hours on it. it isn't much to look at but i've used it the last few seasons and now I'm hooked, I don't actually own one myself I don't have to have a 520H I just like them I would really be more interested in a Horse with a sickle bar mower you said I could come down and scope it out thursday. 953 nut 54,999 #6 Posted May 19, 2014 If your will only be use for sickle bar work then any of the eight horse or larger units should do the job, but the larger it is the less bone jarring vibration you will feel. Certainly technical, if not highly classified. Middle boy was a CT on the boomer Florida in the late '90s. Spent 5 years as an OT. Classified as hell, but at least our mission was declassed in the 90's sometime. Basically, we gathered data and tracked Soviet subs. Got tired of all the egos and long watch hours, and went surf-fleet for my last year. Spent it on a can, the Richard E. Byrd DDG 23.
