Austin860 82 #1 Posted May 14, 2014 Finally got a horse again, it's a nice Electro 12. I'm not positive, but I'll get re numbers on it tommorow. Sheet metals good, has hydro drive and a hydrolic lift.come with a mower deck and plow. Plow is complete with brackets and so is mower deck. The 12 horse kholer doesn't run, but that next on the list. Already started teardown, I plan to do a full restoration. More pictures to follow

Austin860 82 #4 Posted May 14, 2014 First problem, I can't get the steering wheel off. I got the dash housing and the entire steering shaft/Column out, but I can't get the wheel off to remove it through the dash. I tried punching the pin out, and I can't seem to get it out. Thinking I might have to buy a new drill bit and drill it out. Other than that, comming apart easy and it looks good. Excited to get further in the tear down. All my pictures are "too big "
pfrederi 17,641 #5 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) Drilling out the pin is not a good idea. The pin is tough and will probably break your drill bit. Clamp the shaft in your vice and start soaking the pin with Kroil or PB Plaster or ATF/Brake fluid. Get a roll pin punch and after a couple days start whacking on it with a BFH. Austin860 82 #6 Posted May 15, 2014 Ok. Thanks for the advice. I already broke one bit....whoops haha. I'll soak with pb blaster tommorow. Keep you updated
Irv 115 #7 Posted May 15, 2014 I have a dash plate for that. Send me your address and I'll send it.
Austin860 82 #8 Posted May 20, 2014 The engine is stuck to the frame ( and yes I took the bolts off!) and I can't get it off. I just soaked the base in bp blaster. I'll see tommorow. I will need an electrical diagram to rewore the tractor. All the wires are old and cracked, will replace with nicer ones. Still need an electric pto switch, and a few other things that go on the dash. Thank. Austin
Kelly 1,029 #9 Posted May 20, 2014 Did you take the 2 bolts out that go in the oil pan from under the tractor on the right side?

Irv 115 #11 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) That model, 1-7245 is a 1969. The Toro site https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro only gives the drawing for the electric clutch and hydraulic system. That has a breakerless ignition so if you have a problem getting spark it may very well be a bad "trigger switch", hard to find and expensive. Be careful with the rewiring because if you cross anyting you can ruin the switch if it's good. Good luck. Edited May 20, 2014 by Irv

Austin860 82 #13 Posted June 2, 2014 Got the steering wheel pin out. About 2 weeks of soaking it in penetrant and it knocked right out. Now to get the steering wheel off....some parts have already started to be blasted and primed.
Austin860 82 #14 Posted June 11, 2014 Thank you everybody for all your kind replys and help. I only have 3 more small parts to blast and prime, then the frame. I still have to decide on what paint color I'm going to use...also don't think I have all the attach a matic parts. Yikes. Austin
Austin860 82 #15 Posted September 11, 2014 Well she's done. All new paint and decals. Did a conversion from an electric clutch to a Manuel clutch(310-8 donor). Had the deck hooked up and cutting, and wanna hook up the snow blade soon! Thanks for all the help. Into the lawn ranger! Ps the tractor is red, not orange I promise haha
