slammer302 2,155 #1 Posted May 13, 2014 I've been buying wheel wheel horses to fix up and sell but I have a hard time letting them go once I get them working as they should but I need to sell two if I want to keep my hobby funded so I'm hoping to get some advice from my fellow red square members so here's what I have c-85 8hp 8 speed its a good mower, B-60 8hp 8speed pull start witch I don't mind and the motor is newer 1992 runs good and a B-80 10hp 4speed looks ruff but runs great has new back tires to so witch to do you guys think should go and witch one should I keep? squonk 41,016 #2 Posted May 13, 2014 B-60 keep. Doesn't look bad and you don't see them every day. Swap the newer tires onto it
NJhorses 12 #3 Posted May 13, 2014 I would keep the black hood. Just because i like the black hoods. Other than that i think they are roughly the same tractors.
Marv 919 #4 Posted May 13, 2014 Gut wrenching decision. I don't have a recommendation for you. I'd say keep them all but I know that is not the question. I guess I am just to attached to mine. Good luck. Marvin
AMC RULES 37,126 #5 Posted May 13, 2014 Yes sir, ditto on keeping your black hood.
slammer302 2,155 #6 Posted May 13, 2014 I'd like to keep them all but I do most of my mowing with my suburban 400 and the lawn ranger but I like to keep a bigger machine around for the ruff stuff
Racinbob 11,034 #7 Posted May 14, 2014 I like black hoods but the B/C series in the 70's are, overall, my favorites.
Wishin4a416 2,191 #8 Posted May 14, 2014 I would keep the B-60. In fact I would love to have one. Kinda rare.
squonk 41,016 #9 Posted May 14, 2014 I try to stay from the late 70's on back the sheet metal seems a lot stronger and better made.
slammer302 2,155 #10 Posted May 14, 2014 I like that the b-60 is a very simple machine not alot of wiring
squonk 41,016 #11 Posted May 14, 2014 The older c series ones are also easier to get to the lift linkage than the black hoods
slammer302 2,155 #12 Posted May 14, 2014 I did notice that when I was playing musical chairs with the decks
Uncle Buck 246 #13 Posted May 14, 2014 I would lose the black hood for starters, my least favorite of the three. It could be a coin toss between the other two I suppose. Put the new back tires from the B-80 on the 60 and keep it. Generally I might have leaned towards the B-80 for the greater HP and electric start, but I would pass it over for the B-60 due to condition and the 8 speed myself. The real drawbacks to the B-60 to me are 8hp, and rope pull start, but those drawbacks are countered by condition and the 8 speed tranny.
bowtieguy 334 #14 Posted May 14, 2014 Hummmmmm.......I think you ought to sell all THREE tractors....so I can sell you SIX WH tractors to replace them....maybe couple C's, a D, couple 10XX and maybe an 8XX. ..

stevasaurus 22,700 #19 Posted May 14, 2014 I really like what you are doing...fixing up horses and maybe selling them to buy more to fix up. While I agree we need some parts guys...it is nice to see some one fixing up horses and selling them whole. BTW...keep the Black hood.
slammer302 2,155 #20 Posted May 14, 2014 I can't bring my self to part one out . The b-80 was actually a parts tractor I brought back to life.
