If you plan on shipping or receiving with Fastenal, The day you are dropping off or planning a pick up, call ahead. I have a tiller I'm shipping. I was planning on stopping after work today. Yesterday I decided to call the store to find out what time they close. I talked to the manager and she says 5;00. so I say I'll be there at 4:00. And she says I'm sorry but our forklift driver leaves at NOON! and they are not open Saturdays She goes you can drive our fork lift and I say NO WAY! I can see the disaster coming. Now I have to take an hour off this morning to drop it off. He'l probably call in sick! So call ahead before you arrive!

I went to Fastenal...once. I needed a set of woodruff keys. Not in stock, couple days away, will come in with regular shipments to the store, no problem. When I went to get them, they charged me shipping!!! $1.00 woodruff keys cost me $6.00. I was bent. I went there representing my company, (machine shop), and potential future business, as they do have a lot to offer. I dealt strictly with the manager. (In all good business tactics, he should have given them to me). When all was said and done, he asked if he could stop by the shop on a sales call. Guess where I told him to go.

I just dropped off the tiller. They had a sign on the door saying because they have a fleet of trucks that core items are shipped from other stores with no freight charges . I think you got hosed . I also found out that at my store anyway, the forklift guy only works half days every day. At least I know now.

I just shipped some goodies to a member here and used Fastenal.

All went well on the shipping end, and the receiver actually got the parts a day sooner than was expected.

I was disappointed that they didn't have some type of tracking for me to check out, but the parts went from my store to a central distribution center then to the receivers store.

All this for $10 less than UPS, and they went by the weight I said, and I was guessing high!

I can see it now. The forklift twas pretty beat up. the starter was shot and the guy had to whack it. Their pad outside was just big enough for the forklift and it had dropoffs on both sides. Plus I didn't want to damage my trailer. I told the guy she said I could run the forklift and he rolled his eyes. He said she is scared to death of it.

Another thing. I was in such a hurry when I dropped it off I didn't pay. I went bac=k yesterday to settle up and they told me the guy receiving it pays. I had to send him the money back!  :)

I've shipped close to 10 tractors to-and-from me in the past six months with Fastenal. Every experience so far has been seamless. I have not yet found one trucking company that can even come close to Fastenal prices and their delivery times are always fast. Even Uship can't come close. And trust me, I've had my horror stories with trucking companies shipping tractors. I had to take the last company to court - and yes, I won!
