Mechanical Fuel Pump on a K582?

Would there be any reason a mechanical fuel pump could not, or should not, be used on a K482, K532 or a K582 this application would be going in an 18 Automatic? I realize that these pumps are NLA in the metal bodied pumps, but if I am not mistaken there are still rebuild kits available.

I would rig up an electric pump

I decided to have a go at fitting the K582 with a mechanical pump for the 18 Auto.  The twin is still in the process of being built at the moment.

An electric pump would be cheaper ( in the long run), easier, deliver more fuel and probably be more reliable.

The electric works great for me... I have them on three tractors including my D200.

I also went with an electric pump and on one C and likely will need another one on the other C but the vacuum pump rebuild kit for the D200 was cheap and has worked flawlessly since reinstalled.
