mower drive belt

Recommended Posts

wessex horse

evening all, finally getting my mower deck sorted, I need a drive belt from the engine to the deck,  and it'll  probably be wise to renew the spindle drive  belt to the blades.

I have scrutinised the charts here but can't get my head around the columns of figures.

If anyone could give me either a part number or equivalent  it'd be a big help.

My horse is a Raider 10,  id tag reads 71-10K8     160443;            its a belgian assembled one.

deck is a 36inch rear discharge.

many thanks.

incidentally my Wheel Horse is proving its worth, well patinated, to put it mildly, my neighbour, who has a  new green thing, and being young-ish thinks if it ain't shiny it won't work, was well impressed with the old girl as she screwed her way through the hub deep muck in our wood; even more when I loaded up a big trailer with timber and it made no difference, she just tugged away. cleat tyres though.

and itll take a bump, being made of steel instead of plastic.

Can't immediately help you on length, though they are long :D

That model number doesn't fit for a Raider 10, it's more like a C-100 or B-100 from 1977....

This manual may cover what you have

Drive belt for a long frame 45-1/2" wheel base tractor

Toro 102741 {HA/Ax96.6"}

Gates 6638BR 17/32"x96-3/4" Wrapped

Spindle belt

Toro 8411 {HA/4Lx76.94}

6877 Gates 1/2"x77"

These belts are designed to withstand the reverse bending over a flat idler pulley.

thats interesting it plainly says Raider10 on the side and its got  original decals,as you can see from the "patina"   any new paint has been hastily laid on by me.

I am intrigued to know what I've got...is it some Belgian miss-mash of mixed bits?

It was definitely assembled in 1977 at the Amnor factory. That model and spec are a B-100, the Amnor factory often made some quirky models.

Given that age of components and assembly date made the model, once the tag is removed or changed you can make pretty well any model out of a few common parts....

Having looked through photos of Raider 10s, wouldn't I be right in saying that those decals aren't in the WH factory style and they're two separate decals, not even the same length. I suspect these were added later for some unknown reason.

I have a 71-10K8  (71=1977) Amnor assembled tractor and Mark's right in that these were what had previously been a B-800 spec tractor in the US but they were badged and sold in Europe as a C-100 model. Here it is.

Andy,

I've shipped a few sets of Raider 10 in the split style. I think it worked well for WH in that they just added a 4 or 8 speed decal underneath. Re: the length I think they have been peeled hacked as part of the same resto that sprayed over the kohler decals....

Your right about the decals Andy, they are the Decals that were also on my 74 Raider/C-120. They had them made in Belgium after WH U.S. stopped producing the proper ones in 72-73 as they went to 'No Names' from then.

Re your Tractor Wessex Horse, for a model reputedly built in '77' , it has the Hoodstand and High Fuel Tank of a pre 76 Model. So they must have still been clearing the backlog parts in that year.

Oops!, didn't see Mark's post while I was typing mine.

Here's a customer wheel horse from 3 years ago. It was badged raider 14, but the model number was and Raider 12.

It was the same split style decal.

C-100 should get you 99% there, if you get stuck then give us a shout! The info from Garry should be ok, look for the closest length and profile.

B95 should get you close on same pitch/profile and length.

The numbers and details that Garry has stated in an earlier post should be good for your Tractor and Deck.

Your Tractor is pretty much identical to my 74 C-120 and that had the same 36"Deck as yours and had an OEM Wheel Horse Engine-Deck Belt numbered 102741.

thanks all.

I'll post a pic at the weekend of my horse hauling an impressive load.

Doesn't bother me at all its not what it says on the tin, just pleased to have got a good one. Especially as it seems word is getting around about  'proper' Wheelhorsesand the price is creeping up.

all I need now is a grader blade or a dozer blade and some wheel weights, I've been looking at various clips and pics here and have an idea for some of my own

I got loads of old lead weights........and some brake drums...

Hehe, there's a good vid from Robins about home made wheel weights and a dozer blade...

Wheel horse with blades on are useful and fun, here's mine in action a few years ago.

Just a thought Mark - were your previous orders for these decals all from the UK? Reason I ask is that I recall seeing on more than one occasion on ebay tractors from this era apparently without the hood stand decals. Just wondering if Amnor ran out from time to time and supplied tractors without them and then Mountfield added these, particularly  if they had some in stock from previous 'anonymous' tractors from Belgium which would explain the retro model title.

Doesn't really make sense to me for Amnor to have had these made, might as well have made proper looking ones.

Andy, they've all been Amnor, I've shifted quite a few sets. Commando 800 in this style being the most popular. My theory is that the no names never really happened in Europe. I've only ever made two sets, and they could have been US imports. That made a bigger gap between the 72 style raiders....

I was hoping that this type of discussion would ensue from the Amnor list I posted but it didn't seem to happen. There's a lot of things to try and link together.

Certainly there are '73 'no names' in the UK from Amnor, Rex has one and I came across an '8' the other day but the no names are a bit of an inigma that all links in to the story both sides of the big pond as does the whole 'badging' issue I think.

I'll use the example in this thread to add a post to the Amnor serial thread later as I have a couple more examples to add to the list now.
