Question on originality of Mid-1960's seats.

With the help of Dave Burley (Fun Engineer), I am currently working on restoring some 857 and Commando 8 seats.

Here is my question - were the seat pans on an 857 and others of that era originally painted with a black krinkle finish, or were they smooth. I have several old pans, 2 of which have a krinkle finish, and the others are either so rusty it's hard to tell, and one's been repainted red.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like krinkle paint it is.

Krinkle finish here too Bob. But I also used Hammered Black by Rustoleum on one of my seats.

I need to get the original look on my 857. Anyone have an old seat laying around for sale? I'll get the cover on flebay.

I don't think you'll find what you need on flebay. You may however find a seat pan

Check out Michigan Wheel Horse in the vendor section for seat covers.
