19richie66 17,531 #51 Posted September 17, 2014 Well Craig, I cut the cub metal off the hood. Wasnt feeling it after letting it sit and ferment. I got the dash riser and dash panel mounted just need to weld the hood hinge panel in. Also got to fire up the motor just long enough to make sure it ran. Hope to start kicking it up a notch soon. Figured I would push it outside and get an idea of how it's going to sit. I have some new front tires on a wider rim so it wont have as tall of a tire in the front. If I could keep my daughters jeep on the road for longer than 2 weeks I would be doing better. I hope to have it moving under its own power before the end of the year. 19richie66 17,531 #68 Posted October 22, 2014 This motor use to be propane powered. I had to get a carburetor for it and make the linkages. A friend of my dad had given him the motor and we didnt even know if it ran. I just straightened all the tin for it and hope to get it wired up soon.Those exhaust manifolds stay. Firewall flexed too much so I started digging in the parts bin and came across an old buggy rack n pinion from a project long ago that fizzled. I got to thinking how nice and simple it could be. Cut off the chain setup nice and easy so if I have to use it I still can. Had to mount the rack backwards so the throw would be correct. Just have to tidy up all the brackets and weld a couple more tabs on it. Also have to extend the steering rod about two inches. I hope it works. 6 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

19richie66 17,531 #72 Posted November 14, 2014 Got the steering stop assy made. Used some old steering stabilizer parts from my daughters jeep and a piece of tubing. Little bit of measuring, tack welding and testing. So far this is what I have. It seems nice and easy and is about 2.5 turns from stop to stop. I hope to get it back on the ground next week.
