He is referring to the cam on the hydro.

Nate, do you have the manual, or are you trying to do this job in the blind?

Never mind i got it off :)  and i was doing it blind i did have the diagram the entire thing that i printed out though... i didn't realize that the forwards and reverse lever had one of those pins with the hole in the middle and i couldnt figure out why is wouldnt come off.

I fixed it and i think i fixed the leak fingers crossed! i dethached the yard with it yesterday... my  neighbors probably hate me because i was running it with no exhaust...

You know what kind of oil goes in a k301?

Thanks Nate

According to the K series service manual, 10W-30 or 10W-40 is for 0*F - 32*F (but not above!). 5W-30 or 5W-40 is recommended if you drop below 0*F in the winter.

It says if you use any 10W-X or lower oil during the summer it will "substantially increase oil consumption and combustion chamber deposits"

Ah sorry, I just used the X in place of re listing all the different types of 10W multi-viscosity oil.

So basically use only straight 30W in the summer, dont use anything that has a dash in it like 10W-30, 10W-40, 5W-30, 5W-40.
