bmsgaffer 2,045 #6 Posted April 7, 2014 Straight 30W for summer.
Nathanielperz 150 #7 Posted April 7, 2014 Sweet thank you how about for winter? Sweet thank you how about for winter?
bmsgaffer 2,045 #8 Posted April 7, 2014 According to the K series service manual, 10W-30 or 10W-40 is for 0*F - 32*F (but not above!). 5W-30 or 5W-40 is recommended if you drop below 0*F in the winter. It says if you use any 10W-X or lower oil during the summer it will "substantially increase oil consumption and combustion chamber deposits"
Nathanielperz 150 #9 Posted April 7, 2014 What type of oil is 10w-x
bmsgaffer 2,045 #10 Posted April 7, 2014 Ah sorry, I just used the X in place of re listing all the different types of 10W multi-viscosity oil. So basically use only straight 30W in the summer, dont use anything that has a dash in it like 10W-30, 10W-40, 5W-30, 5W-40.
