squonk 41,016 #26 Posted March 22, 2014 Mike, why don't you pack it up yourself, then go to PayPal.com/shipnow and create a shipping label. I bet it will be cheaper. It was $24 to ship the seat. I bought a box because I have tried to find the right size box on these seats and you'd be surprised how hard they are to find where I work. so They hosed me on the box for 9. $35.00 to ship a seat really isn't all that bad to me. One stop and it was done with insurance and 3 day delivery.
shorts 182 #27 Posted March 22, 2014 UPS next day documents between Detroit and Utica NY, $40 for me to send, $15 to the investment co. they have an account and get the reduced rate. I live 5 miles from the Ups hub and have had it take 6 days for an overnite envelope to get here due to inclimate weather, 8" of snow, finally had them hold the envelope of documents and picked them up myself. groundhog47 347 #28 Posted March 23, 2014 Well, thanks all for the replies, I always strive to seek and offer best rates available that I can find to save my buyer some money. If neither of us cared it'd be easier to stop the leg/gas/car worry. Knowing these shippers whomever they end up pay out the nose for diesel I somewhat empathize, but I'll bet they could cut costs with improved loading and offering more than expedited shipping. Here we pay tax for out of state purchases which I exclude shipping but paypal still charges on total to seller (different gripe)
groundhog47 347 #29 Posted March 27, 2014 Well thanks to friend pacer Bills internet search, finding Fastenal, and sharing, I was able to send a box and save a buyer some $$. It did take a tad longer than 24 hrs for reply, but went smoothly after received quote and agreed to ship. It prob is best with super heavy boxes/containers, but I am just overly tickled and pleased. Yeah, did some leg and phone work but now know the process and highly recommend. I did not egt through the USPS business rate stuff and feel wouldn't qualify anyway. I truly thank all who participated and discussed the various routes available. Man if could only "Beam me up/over Scotty", wow
groundhog47 347 #30 Posted April 9, 2014 Note: Fastenal delivered from store A to store B and notified shipment of parts arrived, @26lbs for $15 16"x16"x 10" box. Only hitch I paid for ship up front and other store charged my customer. After straightening out they said he was coming back in for refund. Moral: next time will get my "paid receipt" to cust via email or post. Thanks everyone for participating and thanks pacer Bill for bringing Fastenal shipping to light!
