daveoman1966 3,752 #2 Posted March 17, 2014 I would NOT use any kind of HYDRAULIC fluid in the Wheelhorse automatic trans. It is designed for 30w motor oil or ATF. The hydraulic fluid shown is for use in International Cadet tractor line, but NOT for Wheelhorse. I have been told that it has some additives that are not good for hydro-static units. boovuc 1,090 #5 Posted March 18, 2014 Hi RJ24, It still reads that it is Hydraulic oil and not a motor oil. That said, I have found that it is just plain better to follow the manufacturers recommendations on fluid and lubrication use. If your tractor has 10w30 in it, I would recommend staying with it. Whoever has used that hydraulic fluid for 10 years in their tractor may be taking a risk. Most of the member's tractors on here have used the recommended 10w30 motor oils for 10, 20, 30 or more years without any incidents. And one person getting by doing it verses thousands using what is recommended is the better bet. It is just my opinion and it wouldn't have been expressed if it wasn't solicited. Google that brand of hydro oil and read reviews or comments on some of the other tractor sites. Even tractors that are suppose to use Hydraulic Fluid were having trouble using this particular brand of fluid.

Hodge71 664 #8 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) I hate to muddy the waters on this whole topic but Cub Cadet used both Sundstrand and Eaton transmissions and they recommended hydraulic fluid in them....If you read up on Eaton trannys, Eaton recommends many different types of fluids to be perfectly acceptable for use in their transmissions but suggests you check with the manufacturer of the equipment for what they suggest..... I personally think the 10w-30 was a Wheelhorse spec to make things easier for owners.... Edited March 25, 2014 by hodge71
