Mike'sHorseBarn 2,982 #1 Posted March 11, 2014 So my first Wheel Horse Tractor was a Work Horse 700 that was given to me when my grandfather passed away in 1999. I credit this thing with starting my obsession now, but I want to know more about the thing. It is a 1969 model, but there is no mention of it in the 1969 Model Brochure. Was it just a more affordable simplified Wheel Horse? I'd love to see some literature on it if anybody has some. Thanks in advance!

Horse Play 393 #3 Posted March 11, 2014 A WH 700 is my first one too (other than the ones my Dad and grandfather had when I was growing up.) It seems like there has not a lot been a lot said about this model. It was only offered in 1969 and was the last model offered for the short-frame tractors. It was offered under two versions: electric start and recoil start. The only thing that made it an "economy" model was that it had a Tecumseh instead of a Kohler - other than that it was built mostly like the other short-frame tractors. I too have never seen any mention of the 700 in advertising from the time. Doesn't seem to be a rare tractor, but I've hardly seen one restored or with the original H70 engine. BTW, let's see some pics!
Mike'sHorseBarn 2,982 #4 Posted March 11, 2014 I have the original H70 engine that was in mine but it ran terrible so I repowered it with an 8hp kohler lol Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

KC9KAS 4,741 #9 Posted March 12, 2014 I have a WorkHorse 700 also. The 7 HP tecky was rebuilt and the qovenor isn't working correctly, so I put a newer 10 HP tecky in it.....Use it to mow and it works well. There were 2 models of 700 in 1969,,,,1-3741 & 1-3745 the engine models were H70-130042 & H70-130043.
