slammer302 2,155 #1 Posted March 10, 2014 Did WH ever make a 8 HP automatic or has anyone tried to put a k181 on a hydro I have a buddy with a cub 125 hydro that someone put a k161 on it and does pretty well for pulling a trailer of wood around and general yard work. KC9KAS 4,741 #2 Posted March 10, 2014 Wheel Horse made a 875....8hp, electric start automatic in 1965. It was the 1st automatic made (I think). I have one and used it every week last summer to mow my yard. It is a very good tractor.
Kelly 1,029 #3 Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) in the 60's they made a few 8hp hydro's 875, 876, 877, but newer than 67 they did not offer it it in a horizontal shaft machine, but I built a tractor for my son it was a B-100 auto I installed a 8hp in it for the first 5 years, it never mowed but he did pull stuff with it no problem. Everything was a bolt in, using B-80 parts, except the hydro pulley that was hard to find, only used on the work horse's with the briggs twin in them. Kelly 1,029 #8 Posted March 11, 2014 Well from the outside you can't tell a10hp from a 12hp so it has 10hp decals to look correct, and Thank you, my son is proud of it, it was built in 6 weeks along with another tractor, nights after work and weekends
