Boatwerker 0 #1 Posted March 9, 2014 My son tears around on an 1100 that I rigged the mower lift handle to work as a hand clutch so he could easily operate it. Unfortunately he had too much fun slap shifting the 5 speed and blew it up... I haven't pulled it apart yet but gears blew out the back of the case so I'm assuming it is scrap. I found a 211a with an automatic transaxle for $200 and am wondering if it will work or if I should find a different one. No plans to keep this original as its his toy and next he wants a snow blade on it.. Any suggestions or resources would be greatly appreciated! I'm new to the site and happy to be here! boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted March 12, 2014 I know that both models, yours and the 200 series use Peerless rear auto transaxles but I'm not sure of the fit between them. Our Excel and Adobe spreadsheets in the manuals section called "Wheel horse Years" breaks down the models, years and in most tractors, the transaxle that was used in them. Those Peerless rears don't take much abuse! (I'm sure looking at your son's 1100's axle turns that statement into a "Mr. Obvious" quote)!
Boatwerker 0 #3 Posted March 12, 2014 Boovuc That helps greatly! His is currently (or was) a five speed but I was thinking of switching to an automatic to make it easier and I'm having a tough time finding a reasonable 5 speed to put in. It seems cheaper to buy another tractor sometimes! That one in his took a lot of abuse for what it is... He was going from first to reverse with no clutch because he got stuck.... I think he learned his lesson because now he can't drive it! Thanks for the tips. SousaKerry 502 #4 Posted March 12, 2014 Those 5 speed peerless trany's went in gobs and gobs of mowers all brands and makes. Check the model number stamped into the plate on top and anything with the same series should bolt right up.
