B-80 will not stay in 3rd gear

My most recent find is below and would like to get your opinions. Believe it is a C-81, 8 speed with recently overhauled engine and supposedly in excellent condition, which it looks like it is. They are asking $725 and when it was listed last time, I offered $500 and it was turned down. It is listed again with a best offer available. It comes with a snow plow. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

They just haven't realized that they are going to take a hit on the motor rebuild yet. Appears to be a nice tractor though. As far as price....seems a bit on the high side like others have said. Keep in mind, if you're going out to buy a new snow thrower, you'd be paying this anyway.  I plow with a 8hp 854, and it works great!! You end up losing grip (traction), before running out of motor, for certain.

Found out it's not original paint. The engine has been overhauled recently though.

This tractor has been repainted, the engine overhauled recently and no mower deck. I offered $550 and then $600, but he declined both offers. I'm stopping there unless someone thinks it's worth more. I have to figure in a two hour drive in each direction to pick it up.

I believe your offers were very reasonable.

I think that your offers were reasonable as well. I think this is the case where he definitely has sunk more than that in money and passion into it and because is old probably expects that back. Unfortunately it doesnt always happen that way. This is a hobby of love, not usually too much profit.

yup don't budge on your offers anymore. wait a week or two and see if he calls you back to except your offer. in the meantime continue looking for "the one" until it finds you. Horses come and go but you always remember your first! :) Tractor looks nice but a paint will do that to anything for a short time.
