weeping hose(s)

Replaced all of the hydralic hoses on my 418-A late last summer with new ones from Toro.  For some reason one the fittings on the bottom of the hydralic manifold continues to weep and I'm stumped as to how to stop it.  It seems to me that with all new parts, it should be leak proof and I've already taken everything apart again to see if anything had loosened up, which it hadn't.  I've thought about wrapping the o-ring with teflon tape to see if that would improve the seal against the manifold or perhaps trying to find a thicker o-ring.  The hose fitting itself is fixed so that you have to rotate the entire hose when you install it as opposed to some of the other fittings that have a locking nut with a plate to push the o-ring in place.

Any suggestions or ideaswould be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would inspect the manifold closely for a hairline crack or defect where the o-ring seats. I wouldn't suggest Teflon tape, as a piece might break off and wander into the hydro. If you haven't already, coat the o-ring with oil before tightening it.

you can try something like gasoila or another sealent before you tighten everything up

I second the inspection idea.  A small piece of dirt or debris will ruin a good seal or o-ring.  If you take it apart replace the o-ring with the same size but try to find one that is Viton instead of Buna.  If the place does not know the difference then walk out and find another store.  Hydraulic shops are the best or any industrial supply store such as Applied Industrial, Motion Industries, or Fastenal.

Viton is more chemically resistant to synthetic oils and is usually stiffer the Buna counterpart.  Usually Buna will have a blue dot and Viton will have a yellow dot.

Thanks for the suggestions guys and once it warms up, I'll take it all apart and see if there are any hairline cracks in the manifold and I'll also check on getting some Viton o-rings as well.

Vitons are usually brown in color too. Inspect the threads for bad spots also.
