A Wheel Horse Buddy of Mine Just Called!

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

He called a half hour ago and  "I will be out front at your place in two minutes. Get your coat on and come outside."    I said I will be there.    I go outside and what do I see   a  newly gathered RJ!

He got a K91 motor with it (but not on the tractor)  ,.  A little rough but $300 and he is on to another restore project.  A gave him a points cover and a recoil cup to help him on his way!

A little rough!??? That one looks great compared to most non-running RJ's we can still find. Real nice project your buddy has there.

1959  Tractor  Transmission Code is A289.     Lots of heavy pitting on transmission case and rear axles.

Nice little RJ.

Just an observation on my part, and maybe this is a subject for another thread, but why do most of the RJ's that you find for sale have the engines missing or removed? :scratchead:

I think most I see are in that condition (other than at shows).     Gas tank, carb, recoil starter or transmission issues are usually what I see as problems.

AMEN to that! I found one 2-3 years ago covered in rust, hood there but rougher than a cob, no engine, front wheels locked/rusted in place with something messed up, all four tires flat, torn and shot. I have not seen another since in this area for less than $500. I paid $50-75 for this old turd and figured I did well! To me, the one shown here looks like a trailer queen compared to the pile of rusted steel I bought to restore!

Lane, looks like a nice project.   :handgestures-thumbupright:  I think locating an engine could be the hardest part…..

I wish mine looked half as good as that 59! Literally a rusted hulk is where I am starting!

The ones I had come across were the same way as well...no power plant.
