Lane Ranger 10,943 #1 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) He called a half hour ago and "I will be out front at your place in two minutes. Get your coat on and come outside." I said I will be there. I go outside and what do I see a newly gathered RJ! He got a K91 motor with it (but not on the tractor) ,. A little rough but $300 and he is on to another restore project. A gave him a points cover and a recoil cup to help him on his way! Edited March 1, 2014 by Lane Ranger

cruisnblue48 835 #4 Posted March 1, 2014 A little rough!??? That one looks great compared to most non-running RJ's we can still find. Real nice project your buddy has there.
Lane Ranger 10,943 #5 Posted March 1, 2014 1959 Tractor Transmission Code is A289. Lots of heavy pitting on transmission case and rear axles.
rmaynard 15,417 #6 Posted March 1, 2014 Nice little RJ. Just an observation on my part, and maybe this is a subject for another thread, but why do most of the RJ's that you find for sale have the engines missing or removed?
Lane Ranger 10,943 #7 Posted March 1, 2014 I think most I see are in that condition (other than at shows). Gas tank, carb, recoil starter or transmission issues are usually what I see as problems.
AMC RULES 37,125 #8 Posted March 1, 2014 Nice little RJ. Just an observation on my part, and maybe this is a subject for another thread, but why do most of the RJ's that you find for sale have the engines missing or removed? Maybe, worth more separated? squonk 41,016 #9 Posted March 1, 2014 That looks way better than the 59 that I had!
Uncle Buck 246 #10 Posted March 1, 2014 A little rough!??? That one looks great compared to most non-running RJ's we can still find. Real nice project your buddy has there. AMEN to that! I found one 2-3 years ago covered in rust, hood there but rougher than a cob, no engine, front wheels locked/rusted in place with something messed up, all four tires flat, torn and shot. I have not seen another since in this area for less than $500. I paid $50-75 for this old turd and figured I did well! To me, the one shown here looks like a trailer queen compared to the pile of rusted steel I bought to restore!

Terry M-(Moderator) 2,175 #13 Posted March 2, 2014 Lane, looks like a nice project. I think locating an engine could be the hardest part…..
Uncle Buck 246 #14 Posted March 2, 2014 That looks way better than the 59 that I had! I wish mine looked half as good as that 59! Literally a rusted hulk is where I am starting!
Coadster32 793 #16 Posted March 3, 2014 Nice little RJ. Just an observation on my part, and maybe this is a subject for another thread, but why do most of the RJ's that you find for sale have the engines missing or removed? The ones I had come across were the same way as well...no power plant.
