pezsox 31 #1 Posted February 25, 2014 I am looking for a pic that shows an RJ58 belt. All of the pics I find show them with a belt guard covering the pulleys and belts. I just want to get a good idea of the tension and the roundrod guard. Almost there...
Lane Ranger 10,943 #2 Posted February 26, 2014 Not much of a close up but this may help! This shows the drive belt and three pulleys with the guards off . I was installing my front cutter bar on the 1958 RJ.

pezsox 31 #6 Posted February 26, 2014 I mainly was wondering what the tension on the belt should be when installed. Obviously that could have a lot to do with length of belt, and engine placement. As looking at pics I see there is no standard. It runs well and doesn't "miss" so I guess I go with it? The other question I had is where the "bent rod guard" goes. I didn't know if it rotates under the belt or if it is in the correct location?
buckrancher 2,679 #7 Posted February 26, 2014 the other bent belt rod is for a attachment like a mower deck or sickle bar the belt cover is used for the drive belt
Lane Ranger 10,943 #8 Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) I found a few more pictures of the belt, the homemade "bent rod guard" Brian has in his photo for the attachment belt and two belts running off the motor pulley. pezsox 31 #9 Posted February 26, 2014 ok perfect. The guard was with the motor but I couldnt remember the angle it attached at. So for a single motor it doesn't look like it does much. thanks
Waynesmith 0 #10 Posted March 2, 2020 What size is the idler pulley ? Diameter?
Horse Play 393 #11 Posted March 4, 2020 I'd have to go measure, but if you need a new pulley this is what I used: https://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/#!/RJ-Pulley-WH-3542/p/85606036
