rhal 0 #1 Posted February 15, 2014 can anyone identify this wheel horse tractor?
boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted February 15, 2014 Maybe an 867. Did you look up under, (redundant wording), the dash? That is where the tag, if it is still with it, should be. It may be painted over so look and feel closely.
daveoman1966 3,745 #3 Posted February 15, 2014 656? 606? Look at the hoodstand left side, just about where your knee would bang into it. You should see a small metal tag riveted to the upright coulmn with a model # and serial number too. Find it? ? ? What does it read? ? ?
stevasaurus 22,698 #4 Posted February 15, 2014 I don't know guys...it has the brake pedal on the right side. I am thinking it may be a long frame horse. My 857 has the clutch and brake on the same side.
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #5 Posted February 15, 2014 I'll throw my guess in..... 1968 Commando 6. (1-4631) @Steve - the right foot pedal is the PTO. edited to add: It could also be a '68 500 Special. (1-3631) The reasons behind my "guess": It has the wider rear fender, headlight opening in the hood, three spoke steering wheel, and the drive belt guard has a Tecumseh tab configuration and no decal indentation.
stevasaurus 22,698 #6 Posted February 15, 2014 Got ya Terry...my bad. The hood looks like the hood on a 1077. What do ya think??
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #7 Posted February 15, 2014 It's definitely a short frame. They only have one hole on the side of the frame rail in front of the mid-hitch: Forgot another possibility..... A '69 Workhorse
rmaynard 15,417 #8 Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) My first guess was a Commando 8 (4831). Looks like a battery box sitting behind where the engine should be. But I guess maybe the Commando 6 had a battery box too. Edited February 15, 2014 by rmaynard
Kelly 1,029 #9 Posted February 15, 2014 I think TT nailed it as usual, it looks to have been a Tecumseh powered 68 or 69 machine.
rmaynard 15,417 #10 Posted February 17, 2014 So, rhal, did you ever look for an ID tag to let us know what you have? A follow-up to your inquiry would be nice.

953 nut 55,021 #13 Posted February 18, 2014 I would guess it is a 1055, one thing for sure, it is a short frame and will be fun to own. One word of warning, these are addictive and much like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one!
