418-8

Restoring my 1987 418-8 Wheel Horse.  Completely disassembled and starting back up with it now. Remembering where almost everything goes but I am having a few problems with a few item placements.  Is there any kind of assembly guide that would have pictures to show exact placement of all parts (ex: wire routing and bosch relay and pto spring placement).

I already have the Toro parts manual but that does not show the placement of the parts on the tractor.  Thanks for any help

Here is the schematic of the 418-8 1987 PTO clutch.   There are also schematics of wiring harness, but don't know if it'll suit your need.

I have that schematic and have also used that website. The site shows the parts but does not show how the spring is mounted to the tractor with regards to location. A photograph would show what I need to see too.

There some photos in the gallery and if you do a search on Red Square you may get a 418-8 photo you can use to determine the spring setup.

in hindsight, you will remember to take pics before disassembly next time?

most of the mechanical items placement is very similar from model to model. asking lots of questions or searching for pics is going to be your only option here.

i have a few 3,4,500 series tractors and will help with whatever i can, fire away and see what we can do. the pto spring placement is similar over a bunch of tractors, its probably inside the hood stand. look for a hole in the actuating arm for the cotter pin.. if you need a pic of where the other end of the spring hooks to i will try and get one today.

google is going to be your friend here too......
