thehorse 221 #1 Posted February 6, 2014 (Sorry to double post this in WH forum and implements...but need to get these on way from work tomorrow) (Sorry about double post..but in a hurry and need to pick up on way home from work tomorrow) Hi all.... Blowing some icy, slushy, snow with the 314-8 today. Blower is older single stage with the wings to make it a 42in. I noticed some belt shredding but was able to finish 5 driveways. Probably due to the spring tension on the idler pullies not enough since mine broke Monday and the replacement is not strong enough. So the question is......what size belt do I need And does anyone have info on getting a proper spring. Napa maybe? Snows coming again Saturday and want to be ready. Thanks, Len
dbartlett1958 96 #2 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Belt is Toro # 9750. Size is 5/8" X 69". Get a spare. Spring is Toro # 78-7480. Probably can find something close at NAPA or a good hardware store. I don't have the dimensions handy. Edited February 6, 2014 by dbartlett1958

thehorse 221 #4 Posted February 6, 2014 And just to double check...in order to install new belt, you have to remove pulley of the blower itself in order to get in between pulley and housing.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,026 #5 Posted February 6, 2014 You may fight with the pulley to get it off and damage it in the process. Remove the bolts that secure the right shaft bearing to the housing. Then loosen the bolts on the left bearing. That may give you enough room to slip the belt on. If the pulley will come off clean up the shaft and apply Never-seize so it comes off the next time also. thehorse 221 #6 Posted February 6, 2014 OK... ive had the pulley off twice this season...ok it came off while blowing...stupid key...so may just go that route and hit it with the blue loctite again.
