snowhound 105 #1 Posted February 1, 2014 I bought a Facet Pro 04SV electric fuel pump to put on my 1142 and would like to know where others have mounted their electric pumps also a coworker says I should put in a T at the output side of the pump and run a line back to the tank to protect the carb from damage. Any thoughts or advice? Ed (Snowhound)

Hodge71 664 #3 Posted February 1, 2014 You got a great pump there Ed. I have one on my 18 automatic. I did not run a return line back to the tank and mine works just fine. I will say though, occasionally at idle it does pump enough to flood it out but I'm sure it can be attributed to a worn needle in the carb and not the pump itself….. KC9KAS 4,741 #4 Posted February 1, 2014 If a tee is installed on the output side of the pump, do you have to put a regulator on it so plenty of fuel gets to the carb?
squonk 41,613 #5 Posted February 1, 2014 I wouldn't put a tee in it at all.
pacer 3,174 #6 Posted February 1, 2014 Ive had an electric on my D-180 for some 20+ years and no tee. A tee sounds like a bit of overkill.
JC 1965 1,530 #7 Posted February 1, 2014 You don't need to install a Tee on the outlet side of the pump. I have the same pump on my C-121. I pulled the seat pan and mounted the pump down in the hollowed out space on top of the trans. That puts the pump at about the same level as the gas shutoff valve on the bottom of the tractor gas tank. That way the pump gets gravity fed gas from the gas tank and pushes it on to the carb. Also in that position the pump is in line with the fuel line that is routed through.there. If you have an older tractor with the gas tank under the hood you can mount the pump on the dash tower like mike ( squonk ) did in the pics. Hope this helps. I suggest wiring the pump through a relay like Mike did.

snowhound 105 #10 Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks for all of the replys. Looks like I'll be going with a relay and mounting under the seat pan without a T. Ed
