carlsbarn2 7 #1 Posted January 31, 2014 Has anyone tried a new 10 hp Kolher diesel and is it easy swap ?
boovuc 1,090 #2 Posted January 31, 2014 Holy Smokes! I tried to find anyone that actually listed a price on a new KD series Kohler diesel and struck out. "Call or email them for a quote." I suspect a few on here know of them, may service them or may use equipment that is powered by them. (Especially our Euro and Australian members). Kohler diesels are very expensive new and are not widely distributed in the US lawn and garden arena which make them rare on the used market. I would love to have one and do a WH repower with it but it would be very cost prohibitive!

Tom. 70 #5 Posted February 2, 2014 Hi, Haven't seen any of these kohler diesels in wheel horse, mainly due to the price I think. Many people have opted for chinese diesel swaps and have had good success, there a quite a few threads on here about them. Tom

fireman 1,021 #8 Posted February 4, 2014 The China Diesels are exact clones of the Yanmar Engines. They seem to be very reliable. They can be found on eBay or just google china Diesel engines for sale.

carlsbarn2 7 #10 Posted February 5, 2014 How does 17 ft. pounds torque diesel compare to my 17 H.P. twin that came in my C-175 ?
shorts 182 #11 Posted February 5, 2014 torque and horse power are apples and oranges, torque is measured, horse power is a mathematical equation, torque X RPM divided by 5252 = HP. Look at the spec sheets for both engines, the diesel should reach peak torque at a lower RPM and hold it longer than the gas engine
