captainownage01 0 #1 Posted January 28, 2014 Is it imperative that i use a wheel horse pulley for my engine or can i use a pulley of the same size made by a third party? Im just curious
rmaynard 15,621 #2 Posted January 28, 2014 I don't know what model tractor you are referring to. On the later models with PTO's attached to the crankshaft, the pulley is drilled and tapped to hold the clutch plate and bearing race on. I don't know of any third party that makes that one. If you are only going to drive the transmission, then any pulley of the proper diameter, V-belt groove size, shaft hole diameter, and key slot should work. daveoman1966 3,762 #3 Posted January 29, 2014 As B-100 BOB stated, the shape (geometry) of the engine pulley has to be the same as that of the transmission pulley. If it isn't, your V belts will have a pretty short life.
