steve-ooo 0 #1 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) Okay, i puta smaller pulley and new belt on my offroad b80 and dunked it in water and it compleatly sliped really bad idk what the deal is maby its the pully? Its notva lawn and garden pully its for an ekectric moter, could the sereface of the pully be to slipry? When it would slip i would have to pull back on the clutch really hard, and i put a heavyer spring on it!!! Soo do i need a different pully? Differend belt? An even heavyer clutch spring? As for my increased Speed setup i put a smaller pully on rear, witch is ment for an electric motor, shuld i put the stovk one back on and put a bigger one on front? daveoman1966 3,762 #2 Posted January 21, 2014 (edited) To minimize belt slip, the geometry of the belt must precisely match the mating surfaces of BOTH 'V' pulley(s). If not, the belt will NOT make full contact with the pulley surfaces, giving it a propensity to slip and / or roll. Applying more spring pressure or tension won't solve the problem. In fact, more tension will worsen the roll-over issue. The belt also shouldn't ride to high or low in the 'V' for the same reason...loss of surface contact. Years and years ago, a Wheelhorse dealer / mechanic explained to me that the Wheelhorse belts are between industry standard size 'A' and 'B' belts, done for proprietary reasons, of course. Solution...match the two pulley(s) geometry, then find a mating belt of appropriate length. Edited January 21, 2014 by daveoman1966 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
baerpath 517 #3 Posted January 21, 2014 Sounds like the rear is the problem with not enough belt wrap as daveoman said. i would try putting a little larger cast iron pulley on the rear and putting a pulley from a hydro(6 inch) on the front and see how that works Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
