thirdjoker 11 #15 Posted January 21, 2014 looks good to me. keep it original if you can. looks like the repairs should be fairly easy. congradulations:)
Coadster32 793 #16 Posted January 22, 2014 Looks like a relatively common frame break...where plate bolts to tranny. Some bang it back flat and weld "tear", and some add an extra plate to beef it up. If it's not a worker, welding up the "tear" should be just fine.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,029 #17 Posted January 22, 2014 If anyone has a 551 rear frame plate visable I need to know how far the center of the holes in the plate are from the top of the angle iron frame. Have a frame that has had the rear plate removed so nothing to go by to fix it. Also are the holes centered sideways on the frame? Garry
Wheel Horse Kid 105 #18 Posted January 23, 2014 Great looking orginal! I found a 401 in orginal condition and plan to keep it that way as well. I think the little round hoods look best when their in their work clothes.
fourwheels0 191 #19 Posted January 24, 2014 i've been sick as a dog but points and condenser are ordered. depending on how i feel and outside temp's maybe some work can get done on it. if not then it gets done when it gets done.
fourwheels0 191 #20 Posted January 25, 2014 i'm looking for a good set of front wheels and tires for this. i have a set of 24x12x12 wheels and tires i'll trade. see my ad in the for sale section.
fourwheels0 191 #21 Posted January 26, 2014 oh'well the frame is not only cracked but bent too. somebody abused this thing bad. still no spark (complete ignition is dead) so looks like it's gonna get a clone and maybe become a hot rod. why you ask? because i hate tecumseh's and parts are too hard to get AND i'm into it for too much money now anyways. oh'well live and learn. wallfish 16,980 #22 Posted January 26, 2014 If you can wait and attend the big show in June, I have a frame, a snow/dozer blade and a coil for it if necessary. There isn't much else to the ignition since you already have the points and condenser. May have some front wheels and tires for it too but I'll have to look around for a good matching set. Bring it with you and we can get it going so you can drive it around on cruise night. Shoot me a PM if you're interested
