neil 2,410 #1 Posted January 18, 2014 Thank you Karl for giving the Euro section of other Brands , I will kick this off with my little collection of Trojan Toraktors Built in the early 60`s by Trojan motors . Thes tiny tractors are actually smaller than an Wheelhorse RJ 58 The have the Clinton 1290 engine. The story goes that Trojan bought a large amount of Clinton engine for a project that fell through & they were left with all these engines with nothing to do with them , so they came up with the idea of using the engines for a garden tractor & so the Trojan Toraktor was born .. They only ever made 500 of these tractors & theere were only 4 series of them ever made The MK 4 series was the most raest as they stop production of them during the making of the series 4 and so only a handful were ever built . 2

AMC RULES 37,143 #9 Posted January 18, 2014 (edited) Did your MK-4 come from the factory with the removable top section of the hood? Any picts with it open Neil? Edited January 18, 2014 by AMC RULES
neil 2,410 #10 Posted January 18, 2014 Craig, The Mk 4 is in totally original condition , I will see if i can find a pic with the hood off. The hood is made from Fibre glass on all the Trojan Toraktors . I did manage to find this short video of the Trojan MK3 that was made in 1964 http://www.britishpathe.com/video/mini-tractor/query/AGRICULTURE Oh My how the English language has changed . The narrator of this video sounds very vintage English

AMC RULES 37,143 #15 Posted January 18, 2014 Thanks so much for the link Neil... awesome Trojan sales video there. Curious...why "Toraktor"...is this a play on traditional spelling of tractor?
neil 2,410 #16 Posted January 18, 2014 Craig , not quite sure on why they called it ,,Toraktor,, , they also named the trailer a Torailer

wheeledhorseman 575 #19 Posted January 18, 2014 What a wonderful collection of little tractors you have there Neil. I thought about bidding on one a while back but as I recall the hood was missing. Thought to myself perhaps I could make a fiberglass one (didn't realise they were actually fiberglass then) but in the end didn't bid and ended up getting the WH A-800. The name 'Toraktor' always puzzled me, sounds a bit dinosaur like - didn't know about the 'Torailer'. Never have found the reason but still look now and again. I wonder if they considered calling the Bubble Car a 'Torubble Car' - perhaps not! You see the odd Trojan van at shows but it's rare to see a Toraktor. It's difficult toget a handle of where they thought the market for these would be. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were mainly purchased as kids' toys and the sales literature you posted even hints at that in a way yet they made various attachments like snow plow, rotavator and a gang mower I think. Oh what fun I could have had if my father had bought me one of these tractors when I was young. Have you got any of the attachments? Andy
Wheel-N-It 2,969 #20 Posted January 19, 2014 The second one down from the top is my latest Trojan that i have aquired , it is the MK4 . I think the they designed them based on the ford/ fordson tractors The Ford/Fordson design is exactly what I was thinking. Beautiful old iron. Thank you! neil 2,410 #21 Posted January 20, 2014 This particular Trojan MK 3 doesnt belong to me but it shows some of the attachments that can be fitted. Not all of mine are in a running condition , i hope to get them restored one day . They are highly desirable here in Uk and a fully restored one sold at a private auction for £2500 just over $4.500
Tim Sargeant 1 #22 Posted June 19, 2024 A bit late in the day, BUT; The name 'TOR' was used on a lot of things made by Trojan. This name came from an associated company of Trojan's called The TOR EQUIPMENT COMPANY. I don't know why this was but I was given this information by an ex-Trojan employee who worked for them when they were making these little tractors. Mine is still missing, see pic. Any info gratefully received. Regards to all. TCS. Goudhurst, Kent. Tel: 01580 211376
