I used it filling the hood seam after welding on Putt Putt.  It is much harder than bondo, but still sandable and workable.  It seems to have a short malleable life before hardening.

Tip...have a cup of water on standby,  use a gloved, wetted finger to work that PC-7 into the perfect shape before it sets up.

Greatly lessens the amount of time you'll spend sanding it later.

Thanks for the info guys!

The hood was cracked from the weight of the gas tank so I decided to mount the tank to the frame instead of hanging it from the hood. It still needs a little tweaking but looks like it'll work. I've left a small air gap between the tank frame and the hood so it won't rub. Next I need to extend the filler neck on the tank to get it back to the correct height.

That’s nice . I really like the tank to the frame set up. You could probably sell a bunch of them.

Once you get the repairs done - go hunt for a can of VHT vinyl dye, this stuff will permanently dye the color on the wheel across any spots you've repaired.

https://www.amazon.com/VHT-ESP942000-Vinyl-Black-Satin/dp/B000CPIN9S

Then, cover coat the entire thing in a few layers of Eastwood's Diamond Clear. This coating is UV stable and will not wear off.

https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-diamond-clear-gloss-aerosol.html

When done, that wheel will look new, not kidding.

Denny:

I see Webb Sickle Service in Nebraska changed their name to Webb Cutting Components, Inc.    They still have the correct 2 inch replacement sickle bar mower blades that fit the Wheel Horse  front cutter bars (for RJ's and Suburbans) and the 42 and 50 inch Wheel Horse sickle bars.    FYI

Thanks for the info, Lane. Those blades are hard to find. I sold my sickle bar a couple of years ago.

Thanks, Lane!  I have Jari and David Bradley sickle mowers, been thinking about building a front mower for my 502 out of one of them. Most likely the DB, as I’ve used the wheels and tires for my Frank build and the drive pulley is on the correct side for the :wh: PTO.

Just fyi - there are some very thin bronze washers/bearings available from McMaster for additional wear point protection. You could also just use brass shims if there isn't enough room.

Been there done that Denny...You prolly been busy with 520's and LR's!  good things come to those that wait!

Chiming in to hopefully follow to the finish!

BTW that will steer nice with those bushings, I did similar on a few builds and steer better than new! :handgestures-thumbupright: Well worth the effort.

Jim, I've got two builds going this winter and it's stretching my :wh: budget more than I thought it would. I'm hoping to have them both done in time for the show in Portage. We'll see.

Ive been thinking about selling my 4 RJ-58s and all the attachments and parts I have. I have 4 tractors-2 have Kohler K91T , 1 has the Clinton and one has no engine. Only 1 is missing the serial number decal. Kohlers run. Clinton needs a carb. I have original exhaust shields AND belt guards for 3 of them. 3 mower decks, 2 plows, cart, 2 spare transmissions, parts breakdowns, original manuals and sale tags, seats, tires.  Not sure if I should sell it as 1 big collection or break it up. And also a good starting price?  I'll post pics when I get a chance. Thanks

The RJ58 was the big hit for spectators this year at my local festivals here in Carroll County OH.
the children loved getting their pictures sitting on it, then they discovered the bicycle horn under the steering wheel. It’s always a joy even in parades. Just love showing off part of my collection every year and hearing all the stories from those that had WH in their lives at one time. Can hardly wait to get to retirement so I can get some of my other models back to their glory in working order and be able to attend other shows/festivals throughout the year. My fellow tractor enthusiasts always know when a spectacular starts asking about WH, they point in my direction. I study up on the history of the different models and always intrigue those that didn’t know much about how WH came to be. This website is one place that has helped me learn so much about the WH history and I thank you for sharing your knowledge that I am able to pass on to keep WH alive and well.
