Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #4 Posted January 11, 2014 Did that concrete block come with it? I'll assume it didn't but..... ...... Mike..........
TravelinJavelin 620 #5 Posted January 11, 2014 yeah my friend is insisting this is the tractor I should put the front end loader on because of the already hydraulics on it my biggest concern is finding parts for the kt 17 that reasonable money to repair if needed, by chance would this have the sunstrand or eaton hydro tranny? TravelinJavelin 620 #6 Posted January 11, 2014 nope that goes on my buddies kabota
leeave96 487 #7 Posted January 11, 2014 I'm pretty sure the tractor has a Sunstrand. Simplicity never used an Eaton.
TravelinJavelin 620 #8 Posted January 11, 2014 probably not as tough as a Eaton though right?
leeave96 487 #9 Posted January 12, 2014 probably not as tough as a Eaton though right? I believed its the same Sundstrand pump used in the early Wheelhorse and IH Cub Cadets. Might be wrong on the exact model, but what I'm saying is its tough as nails. That Simplicity is one very heavy duty/tough tractor.
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #10 Posted January 12, 2014 The pump in my Sovereign 18OHC appears to be a Sundstrand 15U with an iron housing. I believe Vickers was the only other supplier of hydro units used in the Simplicity / AC garden tractors.
TravelinJavelin 620 #11 Posted January 12, 2014 well another curious thing to rebuild one of these trannys does anyone have any idea cost wise and or parts still available?

cleat 5,777 #13 Posted January 12, 2014 My very first garden tractor was an old Simplicity Baron. It had the 13HP cast iron industrial Briggs engine on it with a generator/starter. It was a 4 speed with shuttle shift. Shuttle shift is all mechanical with bands and belts, quite a setup but it did work reasonably well. It worked well but cutting grass was a slow process because it went slow even in top gear. The cut was really nice, the simplicity deck works very well. Wheel-N-It 2,968 #14 Posted January 12, 2014 Congragulations on the Simplicity. I'm sure you will like it once you get it running and the bugs out. The KT series 2 engines are smooth with a great sound. I have an old Simplicity 728 that was the lawn tractor I learned how to cut grass on. It still runs but sure has its share of hours on it.
Kennedy 90 #15 Posted January 14, 2014 If I have read correctly parts are still available through allis/agco dealers. I have no first hand knowledge of this personally. Mark
TravelinJavelin 620 #16 Posted January 14, 2014 oh there available all right but you got to have a swiss bank account for them
TravelinJavelin 620 #17 Posted March 18, 2014 update finally got the time to figuire out that i needed a starter cylinoid and a good battery for the spark to work which i thought was odd but anyways runs and goes good no whining in the tranny what so ever the thing is a beast and it really sounds good
