joel_400 59 #1 Posted December 28, 2013 Just put a c160 together the last two days. Built it out of the junk pile! Its uglier than heck but hopefully I can make it work... Got it running before I even put it all together. Made sure it would go into gear first. Goes very slow in forward now that its on the ground and I can hold it back by myself. Put it in rewind and it will go like heck and spin the tires till it goes sideways and about ran me over. Haha Hydraulic lift works great, oil looks great and full. It did sit for an unknown amount of time before I got it and I know very little more about it than what I have stated. Any help would be greatly appreciated! pfrederi 17,893 #2 Posted December 28, 2013 You should download the Sundstrand manual, It has an excellent diagnostic section. Three most likely candidates here are first (and most likely) Control linkage adjustment. Charge valve and acceleration valves are also mentioned but I would look at the linkage adjusment first. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Tim 97 #3 Posted December 28, 2013 it has been my experience that if it is the linkage (and it sounds like it is) that it got messed up because the frame is breaking/broken from the transmission. joel_400 59 #4 Posted December 28, 2013 The frame was broken and I repaired it. It wasnt terrible to where the tractor looked like a bananna but it was broke. The linkage itself seems to be ok though. In the middle is nuetral and back and forth are forward and reverse. When you hit the brake pedal it returns to nuetral the pedal does sit a bit lower than I would like to. But altogether Im not seeing a linkage problem. The plastic slider is moving free and the cam action is moving the linkage the proper distance either way, a bit more to the forward side than to the reverse. I would think if this was damaged when the frame go boogered that I would have a hard time finding nuetral. By the way there is a detent on the side of the dash tower that keeps it in nuetral and its right on too. Thanks for the input so far. If this helps give you any more ideas let me know! joel_400 59 #5 Posted December 30, 2013 Fixed it so far it seems pretty strong now! I added some shims behind the spring on the top valve of the trans. According to the local guru that increases the pressure. He said put a thick one in and if it seems to have too much pressure to take it out and add a thin one. The thick one didnt do a thing so I added two thin ones. Then it started working a bit and just took off. So I removed one thin one, still seemed like a lot of pressure, so then out came the thick one. Maybe by increasing the pressure I dislodged a clog in something? Either way it works great for now.
