JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #1 Posted December 20, 2013 I know part of the fun in doing things is looking for parts. Finding a seat and gas spring for the seat have been like looking for the proverbial needle in a hay stack. have any of you any leads on these items? btw, I just picked up a pair of nos oem headlight bezels, 15 bucks free shipping, there are a few more sets if anyone is looking for them. Some parts come easy, others dont. btw, Jack,C. Your hunch on my seat not original I think' is correct. The seat bolt pattern is a oddball, cleaned up and salvaged all the mounting hardware. thanks guys. Glenn
Tankman 3,518 #2 Posted December 20, 2013 The seat is a tough call. Good luck. JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #3 Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks Tankman, yep that solves the spring. re tractor supply, my nearest 30 miles, I have cked thier web site, and I have called them a few times, super nice people on he phone, the problem is the only way they could ck bolts dimensions center to center. pull the seat from the back and ck with a tape. even the guy at the tore said funny no numbers on the computer. Anyway you gave me one item,,thanks. Glenn the dimension I need for bolt pattern. 8 inch on center, front to back. 7 1/2 inch on center width. I added that in case anyone reading this remembers thier seat replacement dimensions as the same.

wallfish 16,980 #6 Posted December 20, 2013 This looks just like the original seat on my '87 416 http://www.surpluscenter.com/Brands/Seat-Solutions/135-DELUXE-HIGH-BACK-BLACK-SEAT-1-3202-BK.axd
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #7 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) Wallfish. Yes sir. Right. Here is a picture of my seat. Looks like the one you posted. The only problem is the dimension front to back. Mine measures 8 inch center to center. I don't know if I could / want to try and drill the brackets out. but thank you Glenn Edit: never mind drilling. I see the dimension they give is short. 7 inch front to back. Edited December 21, 2013 by JERSEYHAWG / Glenn

Kegler 68 #10 Posted December 21, 2013 Just got a seat, the 110 lowback from - https://www.surpluscenter.com - to put on my 1077. The 7 1/2" X 7" bolt patern worked with no problem. This seat is wider than the origional so I used spacers between the seat and the pan with a longer bolt. I think if it was mounted on the the adjustable sliders it would work with no problem at all and may get a set to put on mine. Very comfortable seat. They have a wide variety of seats and other equipment thatmight be usefull. ----- https://www.surpluscenter.com
Kelly 1,029 #11 Posted December 21, 2013 For the seat shock, go to TSC and pick up a shock for the alum tool box lids direct fit, just take your old one to match up, they have a few styles, but they are only $
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #12 Posted January 2, 2014 Ok gentleman. Progress re. Items The manuals etc. We're pointed about by Garry. A big thank you for that. Re the gas seat spring I have one ordered from auto zone. Will keep you guys updated when that happens. The big news was finding the replacement seat with that odd bolt spacing 7 1/2 inches by 8 inches. Well a big thank you to surplus center tip off. They had the seat. The dimensions on the seat are a bit smaller. But I think it's great. I just finished installing it. Pictures below. Thanks again for the tip. And if anyone needs a seat this is a beauty. 39 bucks plus shipping. Any questions. Please ask me.

submcpo 1 #16 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) Glenn - My 418-A has the same bolt pattern as you said you needed. The surplus center listing gave a pattern of 7-1/2 by 7, but no 7-1/2 by 8. Did this seat bolt up directly or did you have to drill new bracket holes for the 8 inch dimension? Thanks. Dave Edited March 17, 2014 by submcpo
JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,497 #17 Posted March 17, 2014 Glenn - My 418-A has the same bolt pattern as you said you needed. The surplus center listing gave a pattern of 7-1/2 by 7, but no 7-1/2 by 8. Did this seat bolt up directly or did you have to drill new bracket holes for the 8 inch dimension? Thanks. Dave Dave, it bolted up directly. Did not have to alter anything at all. Btw,,,wellcome to red square, dont forget pictures. This site is a fantastic place for information. I allways liked that 418. Dont be a stranger. squonk 41,016 #18 Posted March 17, 2014 That seat looks great but I tried one and there wasn't enough padding in it for my taste. I got the first seat pictured here from TSC. Very comfortable. The 2nd seat pictured I got from The Surplus ctr. I've had it 8 yrs. or so and it's the best tractor seat I ever sat on!
submcpo 1 #19 Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks for the help. I bought the 418 new back in 1987 and with about 780 hours of mowing on it the seat has some gorilla tape patches so it's time for a new one. I really appreciate the contributors to this site - as parts from Toro became more scarce I was thinking I might have to give up on the Wheel Horse but with research here I've been able to keep it in good shape.
