squonk 42,519 #2 Posted December 15, 2013 You can get a sediment bowl at Napa or TSC. I eliminated mine on my 704 and put on a good filter and shutoff. I hate fuel leaks.
flyovrcntry 115 #3 Posted December 15, 2013 Do away with the sediment bowl, they worked good for their time, but their time has passed. Filters work so much better, and no leaks. It's kinda like tubes for tires, that time has come and gone.
rmaynard 15,913 #4 Posted December 15, 2013 The only reason I use a sediment bowl is to keep my 701 all original. I found that the Briggs & Stratton bowl is a dead-on replacement for the original one from Wheel Horse. Having said that, I also put a mini filter inline between the bowl and the fuel pump.
Martin 2,133 #5 Posted December 15, 2013 i did the same thing as bob on my 1057. i like the look of the sediment bowl on the bottom of the tank, but was also concerned about filtering...... i think its a briggs sediment bowl, i picked it up from napa. Don1977 604 #6 Posted December 15, 2013 I got new bowl and screen from TLC when I dropped a broke the one on a 59 430 JD.
buckrancher 2,694 #7 Posted December 15, 2013 I prefer the sediment bowl over a fuel line straight from the tank thru a inline filter to the carb because. #1 the micro mesh screen in the sediment bowl will filter out any particles large enough to clog up a carburator #2 water if you happen to get some h2o in your fuel a sediment bowl will keep it from getting in to the carb where a inline filter will not and it also gives you a visual of whats going on in that repect However I do like Martins setup if you feel you need the extra piece of mind Brian
