maikoan 0 #1 Posted December 9, 2013 I am having issues with my 268H and a 79263 snowblower I bought off craigslist. It seems like the tensioner / spring are sticking for some reason not allowing the belt to be tensioned correctly I am having to tap the tensioner pulley (making sure it is tight) with a rubber mallet every time I want to engage the pto or the belt will pop off. When I first installed it the tensioner would barely move at all (the parts will already all installed to the mounting brackets), I used some penetrating oil which helped a great deal but I am still having issues. Anyone with some words of wisdom? I was also trying to figure out how to remove / replace the tensioner and spring from the mounting bracket but I am not sure how. I have attached a diagram of the mechanism, the parts are # 27 and #28. Thank you for any help - Doug
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,095 #2 Posted December 9, 2013 I will guess that 24 threads into 28. Garry Perhaps this manual will help. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/2460-snowthrower-42in-2000-2005-79360-om-3326-276revapdf/
maikoan 0 #3 Posted December 9, 2013 Yep, 24 is the travel arm that the idler pulley is connected to, The arm slides into the tensioner, #28, but I cannot figure out how it is locked into place so I can remove it (any then be able to replace the tensioner or the spring). Thank you for the manual link, I already have a copy and this does not address disconnecting the tensioner or spring. Doug
