Shuboxlover 478 #1 Posted December 5, 2013 I cleaned and rebuilt the carb (Marvel Schebler DLTX) in my dads 1954 John Deere 60 tonight. I have one question...what is the initial setting for the metering valve? Thanks
6wheeler 603 #2 Posted December 7, 2013 The average is 2 to 21/4 turns final setting on the metering screw. I usually start at 1 3/4 or so. And go from there.
Shuboxlover 478 #3 Posted December 7, 2013 Thanks 6wheeler....not to familiar with the metering valve, how do I know when it's at the correct position? Thanks!!!
6wheeler 603 #4 Posted December 8, 2013 If it smokes? turn it in. If it falters? turn it out a little. Did you set the Idle? I would assume(sorry) you need to set the high RPM and load power screws as well. But just to get it running? Set it at 1 3/4 and adjust til she runs smooth. Which CFM DLTX does it have? I think its a DLTX 94, but it could be smaller. By the way. You can use the similar setups for a 620 or 630. Same engine, different tins on the tractor. If you need help on the air fuel mixture? let me know
