benjiboo 174 #1 Posted November 20, 2013 Hello folks. My name is Ben and I am from Southern Illinois. I wanted to say hello and tell everyone what an excellent forum this is! Alittle bit about why I joined.... I recently found what I feel was an excellent deal on (my first) a Wheel Horse C-160 tractor and rear tiller. I picked up the pair for $125. Wow! What a barn find! Overall the tractor is in pretty decent condition considering it's age. The steering is still tight, nothing apears to be worn out and it runs like a champ. Everything appears to be original, even the paint, which isn't in too bad of shape but is oxidized and dull to some degree. It even still has all the original decals. When I got it home I changed the oil in the engine and tranny, replaced the fuel line and filter, put gas and a new battery in it and it fired right up. It did run alittle rough and skip alittle on top end but after tearing down the carb and cleaning it real good it now runs perfect. The drive belt did explode after about 10 minutes of driving but I kind of expected that. Lol. I got a replacement on and now back to working great. I haven't tried out the tiller yet but am very leary of the belt for it. Gonna try to find a new one for it and see how well it tills. Everything to mount it up appears to be present. The guy I bought it from is a CPA and from what I could tell he just wanted it out of his barn. When I get up and leave for work......... it's dark..............By the time I get home from work..........it's dark. Lol. I had to work all weekend and looks like I won't be off until Wed.. I will get some pics of it up then. I did want to ask: Where can I get a set of those deep ribbed front tires that I have seen on a few of the tractors on here? The ones I'm refering to look like scaled down ribs like what would have came on the front of a Ford 8N only sized for our wheel horses? I've searched all over and can't seem to find them any where.
