Shynon 7,459 #1 Posted November 9, 2013 Picked this one up from a friend at work. Thought I could use it as parts or trading stock. Has been sheded all it's lift, fresh barn find motor is stuck. Really starting to like this one, think I'll keep it.

rustyoldjunk 127 #4 Posted November 9, 2013 Its a "original". It is the first model Cub produced. 1961-63 if i recall correctly.
squonk 41,120 #5 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) I was going to say It's an Original minus the hood ornament. Looks like I also see a belt driving the trans input shaft.I'm thinking it's either a late 63 or someone changed the hood ( decal) Here's the 62 original I had 2 years ago: Edited November 9, 2013 by squonk
zanepetty 117 #6 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) When I decided I wanted a tractor around , I originally set out looking for a cub cadet original! I looked for quiet a while. A few years on and off actually, but none showed up around here. I was on the internet and stumbled on a wheel horse round hood one day and fell in love! But I still like the cubs. Very nice tractor there. Edited November 9, 2013 by zanepetty
leeave96 487 #7 Posted November 9, 2013 Looks like an Original - nice find. Especially nice with the fenders - a sought out option.
AMC RULES 37,130 #8 Posted November 9, 2013 The book I've been reading says Rideaway Jr's were the "originals".
zanepetty 117 #9 Posted November 9, 2013 Fenders are very sought after around here as well. That's a nice find. Any plans on restoring it?
baerpath 517 #10 Posted November 9, 2013 Your right Squonk looks to be a 70/100 hood on it Not in bad shape though
Shynon 7,459 #11 Posted November 10, 2013 Not sure if I will restore or not. Paint does not look bad, needs a good cleaning. I also have about 4 horses awaiting restore, they just keep showing up and I am getting behind. Tom
Shynon 7,459 #12 Posted November 10, 2013 Took a look at the serial number, it was built in august of 62 guess that would make it an Original. Took a look at the paint today it was flaking in some areas. PO must have painted it at some time, that would explain wrong decals. This will get a complete restore and motor build, got motor to turn today, had some rust on wall may be able to hone and ring, head has threads missing from plug hole. Shynon 7,459 #20 Posted December 23, 2013 Yes this one will be restored. Not familiar with cubs, I need to find front grill emblem, possible reflectors. Otherwise looks correct. Currently finishing a Horse. I really like the looks of it. I like the color yellow (not an IH collector). Tom
