W/H JUNKY 43 #1 Posted October 30, 2013 Hi all. Ok I have disassemble, cleaned and replaced the seals. The bearings all looks great.I just put the trans. together today i am just waiting for the case gasket to come in from Toro. It was pretty easy especially after watching stevasaurus video. The only question i have now is where he used the allen wrench to push the ball and spring over to get the shifting fork in. I had a metal plug in there that I had to tap out with a punch. Could I just use silicone to plug this hole. Or is there a better option. Thanks Chris
jrc0528 20 #2 Posted October 30, 2013 I vote for tapping the hole and installing a set screwagainst the bottom of the threads. Only tap slightly deeper than the length of the set screw, 5/16" or so.
rmaynard 15,610 #3 Posted October 30, 2013 I'd say if you can't find a soft plug to go back in, clean the hole and put a dab of silicone caulk in. All you are doing is keeping dirt and water out.
