meadowfield 2,616 #55 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) other than posting this, the video pretty well gets you to where I want to share at the moment. It's a 4wd conversion for my C-101, It took a long time to find an axle that was suitable. A few of the UK guys know I've talked about this and my other project for well over a year so I know what I need to tackle. To save time stripping and working on my C-101 I'm working on a bare chassis to build the kit. The front end is now done but for the 4wd selector which is the tab on the underside of the diff. The rear drive has been started - I now need to make the transfer box which needs to increase the gearing from the back to front by about 2.5:1. meadowfield 2,616 #65 Posted November 11, 2013 slow progress at the moment guys, firstly work is getting in the way secondly I've a trapped nerve in my hip meaning I can't stand up or sit down without a lot of discomfort. It's called piraformis syndrome - ironically it affects mainly athletes (which I'm not) Managed to fab the adjustable steering end stops on saturday and weld them on, which was about it - sorry no pics! meadowfield 2,616 #66 Posted November 13, 2013 Here's a small update... Firstly the adjustable steering end stops Steering setup from the back, re using as much of the original as possible All adjustable with almost no bump steer. No idea how heavy this thing is going to be on steering though....
Stigian 1,234 #67 Posted November 14, 2013 Good to see some more progress Mark, I hope your trapped nerve sorts it's self out soon. A thought on the (maybe) heavy steering.. You could always fit electric power steering. The kind that operates on the steering column.. If you use a system out of a Fiat Punto you could even install the "girly mode" button that would make the steering so light a gentle breeze could make the wheels turn

I nearly bought my own Beer!. ..........................Is there a place for one of those on a WH?. I'm Amazed at the strength of the Yorkshire dead leaf holding up the L/H front corner in Mark's 3rd pic from yesterday! Hope your back fixes quick Mark. Don't overdo it. Great progress and liking it

meadowfield 2,616 #71 Posted November 19, 2013 Another wee update, I was busy last weekend on rally GB, but managed to do a little more work on the lathe... A new pin for the axle - beefed up and with a grease nipple in the end to save crawling underneath.
meadowfield 2,616 #72 Posted November 24, 2013 Bigger update this time Can you tell what comes next... It lives.... :D And the new hood decal, just in case the all wheel drive wasn't obvious Next step is to start on the rear transfer box. 3
