tywilk02 28 #3 Posted October 25, 2013 It runs great and mostly all original except for a missing deck height control rod and shifter knob and one roller on the deck.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,352 #4 Posted October 25, 2013 Looks like a stout machine. Might want to get some paint on the bare metal patches on the deck. Mike.............
CasualObserver 3,408 #5 Posted October 25, 2013 I agree, stout looking. I'm sure it will be a solid performer. 10HP on a basic three speed.... Is is just me, or do you not see too many of these? I wonder if more people opted for the six-speed?
tywilk02 28 #6 Posted October 25, 2013 I have noticed that information about them doesn't seem to be as readily available as other machines. I have yet to find any info as to whether the deck is original or not and I can't seem to find a shifter knob or rear roller for the deck.
CasualObserver 3,408 #7 Posted October 25, 2013 Holy crap... are you seriously from Munfordville? I know/knew someone from there. Is it still a "dry" county?

KC9KAS 4,741 #10 Posted October 25, 2013 Yep, these GT's are just like Lays Potato chips.....You can't have just 1!
Martin 2,132 #11 Posted October 25, 2013 nice 1057. gotta love those early long hoods without the running boards...... great for mowing with a 42 inch deck. the drive pulley sizes arent real good for getting anywhere in a hurry, but only with the 3 speed trans a little lower gearing for working is necessary, as you dont have the hi/low speed box...... my 1057 is one of my favorites, but i guess i could say all of mine are my favorites though..... gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,070 #13 Posted October 25, 2013 Looks like a 48" deck. We don't have the RL-486 manual Garry
Jake Kuhn 1,555 #14 Posted October 25, 2013 Nice looking horse!
Martin 2,132 #15 Posted October 26, 2013 Looks like a 48" deck. We don't have the RL-486 manual Garry i could be wrong, garry, but i think that is a 42", i guess a tape measure would tell for sure........ heres pics of my 42sd on my 1277 and that one looks about the same width at the back wheels/guide wheels etc. i just went and looked at my 48 next to that 42 and there is a roughly 6" difference in the wheel center distance and that would really show up in the pics...... tywilk02 28 #17 Posted October 26, 2013 Thanks guys I plan on being on here quite a bit looking and learning. As far as the deck size goes I haven't put a tape on it but compared to my neighbors 312-8 we were thinking it was a 48".
953 nut 55,393 #18 Posted October 26, 2013 The long frame square hoods are real workers, lots of option for equipment. I see no problem with becoming a Horsaholic, don't fight the feeling.
