Pickle 43 #1 Posted October 22, 2013 Hello fellow Wheel Horse enthusiasts, What parts do I need to turn the ordinary pull behind hitch on my 417A into something that will raise and lower a garden plow, and where would I find these parts?
ba2988 27 #2 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Assuming your plow is a sleeve hitch implement (and not a 3pt. hitch implement), then you will need the Wheel Horse Clevis hitch assembly. I think if you do a search of the forum you will find some pictures of a clevis hitch. You should probably check out the toro site too and search for clevis in the parts section - you will find a diagram of the parts needed. If you're lucky, you can pick up an entire assembly from ebay (thats how I got mine). You will also need to route a cable from the lift mechanism under the center of the tractor to the 'rock shaft' that is part of the clevis assembly. May sound difficult but its not - hardest part will be getting all the parts unless you can find a complete clevis package. If you have 3pt. implements then you are out of luck unless you build a custom 3pt. hitch. PS - nice tractor! Edited October 23, 2013 by ba2988
dcrage 626 #3 Posted October 23, 2013 And I acquired all of this from my local Toro (used to be Wheel Horse) dealer this past spring; with the exception of the "Clevis hitch" which I didn't need for my tiller -- Don't know if all of these are available from Toro; some were new old stock that hadn't been sold by the dealer

Thanks for the comment about my old tractor - it has wear on it but this winter I may give it a decent refurb. The plow is a simple clevis type. I have included a picture of what I am seeking. 152.bmp

ba2988 27 #6 Posted October 25, 2013 I did notice this morning that there is a wheel horse clevis hitch on ebay...search on Wheelhorse Brinly Adapter. That would be one piece needed.
Tankman 3,518 #7 Posted October 26, 2013 This is the old style sleeve hitch that I've used for plowin' the earth. Adaptors are available, or easy to make, if using a Brinly style clevis attached implement.
