I want a stack

Recommended Posts

mkevinr63

I have a 310-8, it's in great shape but I want to do a restoration on it, mainly paint and cosmetic. I also want to add a stack for the exhaust. No particular reason other than I like it. Anyone ever bought or made one for a 310-8? I would really like a chrome one but a black one may look cool too. :USA: I'm here in Salem, VA waitin' on some advice. :banghead:

Thanks

Kevin

I have one on my C-160 with a loader, It's quiet, and looks cool with the loader and it has the rain cap, just like a big tractor. :banghead:

I plan on putting a stack on all of my horses... Even the 1045. I want to restore them all to look "correct" with one exception... The small tractor muffler with a clacker.... :banghead:

I think they look cool to :omg: Just DONT CUT UP THE HOOD!!! :banghead::lol::USA::lol: I have ran into that a few times now and to me is sacrilidge to a wheel horse. Stacks are cool but to cut up a hood to install one, I just think is wrong :thumbs:

Hiya Kevin :USA::banghead:

I like a good stack, i do :lol:

Stacks look good and can sound great :banana:

If there is a down side to running a stack its the height, it can make getting under tree's a bit er.. interesting :omg:

Anyway, here's my 312-8 with home built stack made out of Ford muffler pipes and an old Harris end can that was on a Honda cb900 :thumbs:

Oh, and don't cut the hood

My dad made a stack for tractor . he ran the pipe out the side,90 up ,nipple then one of the long skinny mufflers.He got a chrome tail pipe from autozone.slid the tailpipe over the muffler.welded 4 brackets to bolt the stack to.It sounded wild and it looked like a pulling tractor 45degree angel tip no flapper

With or without the muffler, one trick that is common is to use the long section of a chrome P-trap. (you know... the under the kitchen sink drain trap) Available at any home/hardware store.

A great muffler to use, not as heavy as the IH-1 muffler from TSC or Rural King is the one for wide frame cub cadets like the 149. Here is a pic of one, I cut off the turndown end to the output pipe so I can put an extension on it. All you have to do is run the exhaust straight out to the side enough to clear the hood, then clamp on this muffler as it has a side entrance at the one end. Then put your choice of topper pipe on it, Handicap hand rails for restrooms from Lowes works well if you want a stainless steel turnout, or the P trap for a sink works well once you hacksaw it off to the proper styling turnout.
